Texas A&M’s future linebacker class is borderline elite after this week’s recruiting haul in the 2026 cycle, starting with four-star Da’Quives Beck committing to the Aggies over Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, followed by four-star Tank King, who chose A&M over Notre Dame, Michigan, and the Texas Longhorns.
Once considered a middle-of-the-road three-star prospect, King’s trajectory has been shooting up ever since, becoming a priority prospect in A&M’s 2026 cycle, and after his official visit to College Station on June 5, coach Mike Elko and defensive coordinator Jay Bateman, who is also one of the top linebacker recruiters/developers in the country, sealed the deal to fend off the Fighting Irish.
King’s production is unmatched; several outlets view him as the No. 1-ranked inside linebacker prospect due to his elite vision and athleticism, racking up 141 tackles, three sacks, and 23 tackles for loss during his 2024 junior season with Memorial High School in Port Arthur, Texas.
After his commitment, King provided a quote to Rivals insider Sam Spiegelman, noting the coaching staff’s firm belief in his skill set while having a clear plan in place once he makes his way to campus this time next year.
“They have always made me feel like I fit in their program and could help out in many ways to push toward a championship.”
Joining Beck and four-star Storm Miller, Texas A&M’s 2026 linebacker class looks like the best in the country, on paper, at least.
According to 247Sports, King is currently positioned as the 43rd-ranked linebacker and the 90th-ranked prospect in Texas.
