The Ohio State football program has had a few misses with the biggest of the recruits in the 2026 in the last few weeks and that continued on Friday with the announcement from 5-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo, that he will be attending Texas Tech and not Texas.
Out of Mansfield, Texas, it always seemed like an uphill climb to lure Ojo away from the state and what Texas is building these days under Steve Sarkisian, but Ojo instead went with the Red Raiders, another home state team looking to make a mark. There’s no other way around it, this one stings in Columbus and is a great get for those in Lubbock. The choice game down to OSU, Michigan, Texas, and the Red Raiders.
As a 5-star talent, Ojo is rated as the 7 overall prospect in the class and the second offensive tackle in the country. He is listed as the best Texas has to offer, all according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. It just goes to show you that the recruiting game has changed and is even more unpredictable than anyone can imagine, with NIL and direct revenue payments to athletes now in the mix.
For Ohio State, it has some offensive tackles already in the class, but none of the caliber of Ojo and the upside he has in his game. It’s been a long time since the Buckeyes have landed a big-time offensive tackle in recruiting, and that trend continues.
