Virginia Tech football recruiting: OL Adrian Hamilton commits to Hokies

It’s been a good week for Virginia Tech offensive line coach Matt Moore. Coach Moore celebrated Independence Day early with the commitment of four-star offensive tackle Thomas Wilder.

Two days later, Moore reeled in another offensive lineman for the 2026 recruiting class when Adrian “Ace” Hamilton picked the Hokies.

The 6-foot-2 1/2, 290-pound Hamilton is from Washington, D.C., and plays for St. John’s College High School. Hamilton is the No. 5 player in D.C. for the 2026 class and the 67th-ranked interior lineman in the entire class, per 247Sports. Hamilton is a consensus three-star recruit. He picked the Hokies over his other finalists, Michigan State and Virginia.

Hamilton has always liked Virginia Tech, but his official visit last month sealed the deal, much like Wilder’s. Hamilton developed a close relationship with new Virginia Tech offensive line coach Matt Moore when he was at West Virginia. That relationship, along with Hamilton’s relationship with head coach Brent Pry put the Hokies over the top.

Hamilton is being recruited as an interior lineman, which means he’ll play center or guard for the Hokies. He is the fourth offensive line commitment for the 2026 class, following Wilder, Buddy Wegdam and Tyrell Simpson. The other three are expected to remain at tackle once they arrive in Blacksburg. Hamilton is Virginia Tech’s ninth 2026 commitment.

While there are plenty of questions about VT’s lack of commitments thus far, you have to like what Moore has done along the offensive line. It’s a far cry from how the Hokies have recruited offensive linemen in recent years. Former OL coach Ron Crook was almost nonexistent on the recruiting trail.

Another good pickup for the Hokies.

Welcome home, Ace.
