The 2025 edition of the SEC media days for college football is right around the corner. On Tuesday, the Florida Gators announced the three players who will join coach Billy Napier in Atlanta next week.
The headliner of the group is sophomore quarterback DJ Lagway, whose presence under center helped the Orange and Blue earn its first winning season in four years while leading the team to its first bowl game victory since 2019. The gunslinger from Willis, Texas, has become the face of the program and enters the fall campaign among the candidates for the Heisman Trophy.
Also included in the group is the man who stands in front of Lagway on each offensive play — redshirt senior center Jake Slaughter. The offensive lineman, originally from Sparr, Florida, earned multiple accolades last season and is projected by many to be selected in the first round of the 2026 NFL draft.
Finally, there is redshirt senior defensive tackle Caleb Banks, who represents the other side of the line of scrimmage among the group in Atlanta. Also projected to be a high-round pick in next spring’s draft, the former transfer from the Louisville Cardinals has been an important presence in the trenches and as a leader on the sidelines for the Gators.
Florida’s turn at the podium comes on Wednesday, July 16, starting at 1 p.m. ET.
2025 Football SEC Media Days details
The 2025 SEC Football Kickoff Media Days will be held from Monday, July 14, to Thursday, July 17, at the Omni Atlanta Hotel at Centennial Park and The College Football Hall of Fame.
This summer marks the third time since 2018 that Atlanta has hosted the SEC’s preseason media event; Dallas, Nashville and Atlanta have served as hosts the previous three years.
