ATLANTA — Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin has some holes to fill in his front office.
Ole Miss football recruiting coordinator Kelvin Bolden left for a job at LSU on July 7. Director of player personnel Alex Brown took a job with the Atlanta Falcons on July 8.
Bolden has been a key part of Ole Miss’ recruiting operation since he was hired in 2022, especially in the state of Mississippi. He played high school football at Perkinston and collegiately at Southern Miss. Brown was hired from SMU in 2024.
Speaking at SEC media days on July 14, Kiffin was asked if July is a better or worse time to lose two top staffers than, say, the winter or the spring.
“It is what it is,” Kiffin said. “It’s unique timing. Those guys did a good job for us. We wish them the best of luck and we’ll just figure it out.”
Kiffin said he has not honed in on filling the holes by a certain date. There is a broader range of candidates to consider as well.
“There’s not a timeline,” he said. “We just try to find the best people. And unlike position coaches, where it’s an exact goal and you’re the DB coach and stuff, personnel and recruiting, those aren’t exact. Those are a lot more, you interview people and find people that fit.”
Linebacker TJ Dottery was one of the Rebels who was connected with Bolden.
“Once I got to Ole Miss, I got to meet Kelvin Bolden,” Dottery said. “I built a great relationship with him. I think everything is going to be fine. He’s a great guy. I’m excited for him and what he has for himself.”
Kiffin said he has gotten significant interest from prospective hires about the positions.
