During Florida’s availability on Day 3 of the Southeastern Conference media days, the Gators’ 6-foot-6 defensive end gave high praise to a former teammate who now wears the Maroon and White.
A recurring question throughout the week’s events has centered on the transfer of teammates and how players are adjusting to their new destinations. Entering his junior year in Gainesville, Florida, Caleb Banks complimented T.J. Searcy’s work ethic and demeanor from his time with the Gators, which he brings to Bryan-College Station, Texas, in 2025.
After appearing in all 12 contests as a sophomore at Florida, Banks said he witnessed his personality and hard-working attitude firsthand.
“T.J. is a great kid. He loves to work,” Banks said per TexAgs. “He attacks every day. (The Aggies) are getting a great guy.”
Searcy’s steady improvement since earning Freshman All-SEC honors in 2023 sparked excitement in Aggieland when he announced his commitment in December. According to Pro Football Focus, Searcy earned a 70.1 grade and 69.5 run defense grade during his dominant 2024 season.
The 6-foot-5, 255-pound defensive lineman has held his own against the elite competition in the SEC. Last season, Searcy forced a fumble in back-to-back contests against Texas and LSU, while also recording his first solo sack and two tackles-for-loss.
