One of Texas A&M’s priority prospects in the 2026 recruiting class is set to announce his commitment, as five-star edge Anthony “Tank” Jones will reportedly choose between the Aggies, Alabama, and Oregon on Thursday, July 31. Jones will make his announcement on The Pat McAfee Show, which airs Monday-Friday at 12:00 p.m.
While one of the tighter recruiting races will come to an end, there is always a chance that the Alabama native could flip his commitment in the coming month before Early Signing Day on December 4. However, the feeling is that this will be his final choice, and according to 247Sports insider Tom Loy, Texas A&M still has a very good chance to land the standout pass rusher.
While Oregon looked long a longshot to win the race, the Ducks have received a prediction to land Jones, which does make sense after losing five-star edge Richard Wesley to the Texas Longhorns. Still, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and defensive line coaches Tony Jerod-Eddie and Sean Spencer have developed a strong relationship with Jones, which still holds an advantage.
“They are doing a really good job. They are getting the program back to where it used to be. I like the direction of where they are headed.”
Loy also noted that Jones is a “big fan” of Mike Elko and defensive coordinator Jay Bateman, and that, due to these strong relationships, the staff should feel good heading into Thursday, despite Loy’s prediction for Oregon to beat out the Aggies and Crimson Tide. Unlike five-star DL Lamar…
