Florida Gators football coach Billy Napier expressed satisfaction with the team’s intensity and effort during their fifth fall practice.Napier acknowledged the team’s No. 17 preseason ranking but emphasized the importance of focusing on their own process rather than external opinions.The coach praised quarterback D.J. Lagway’s progress and recovery from previous injuries.Napier highlighted the emergence of freshman defensive players Joseph Mbatchou and Jayden Woods.
Florida football coach Billy Napier was pleased with the intensity and effort the Florida Gators showed in their fifth practice of fall camp on August 4.
“Came down to the last play today, third down inside the 10 today, and the defense won the day,” Napier said. “So, really competitive today.”
Florida will practice 17 times over the next three weeks in preparation for its season opener at The Swamp against Long Island University (7 p.m., SEC Network Plus).
“This is a critical week for the team,” Napier said. “I think our guys are faced with the pain of discipline or the pain of disappointment, and the challenge is in the middle of a training camp here, over the next couple of weeks, is that we consistently show up and have the self-discipline to follow through.”
