There is one remaining main target for Notre Dame football in the 2026 class, as Florida defensive lineman Elijah Golden will commit later today after pushing back his date from late July.

The 6-foot, 4-inch and 275-pounder will have three other hats on the table, as he is also considering Alabama, Oklahoma, and Virginia Tech. As the nation’s No. 162 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite, Golden would be a great addition to any of his four final teams.

Does Notre Dame add yet another top prospect to its 2026 class? Let’s take a look at what the experts are saying, starting with 247Sports. There are currently no crystal ball predictions for Golden, so it seems as if their experts are unsure of who he will select.

As for Rivals / On3, we reported previously that their Vice President of Recruiting and Transfer Portal Steve Wiltfong believes that the Irish will win out in Golden’s recruitment. As for the rest of the picks, they are behind a paywall, but they do have a compilation percentage for the final teams, and the Irish have a very wide margin as they hold 94.3% of the predictions compared to just 1.5% for the next team in Virginia Tech.

I’d have to agree with the experts at Rivals / On3, as it very much looks like Golden will be committing to Notre Dame later today.
