BATON ROUGE – Is LSU football’s 2025 season opener at Clemson Aug. 30 (6:30 p.m. CT, ABC) a consensus top 10 showdown?
Last week, the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll was released and LSU landed at No. 9 and Clemson at No. 6, setting a top-ranked matchup between the two teams as far as the coaches poll is concerned.
The Tigers were not ranked in the final AP poll last season, finishes just outside of the top 25 after beating Baylor in the Texas Bowl to finish the year 9-4.

LSU is the consensus ninth-ranked team in college football as that is where it landed in the preseason Associated Press poll, too.
Just like the coaches poll, the Tigers are the fourth-highest ranked in the Southeastern Conference behind Texas at No. 1, Georgia at No. 5 and Alabama at No. 8. In total, LSU will play seven teams that are ranked in the preseason AP poll, including in the opener at Clemson, who comes in at No. 4.
Other ranked teams that are on LSU’s schedule is South Carolina (No. 13), Florida (No. 15), Oklahoma (No. 18), Texas A&M (No. 19) and Ole Miss (No. 21)
