I see the Big Ten has finally let it out that they are floating the idea of a 20+ college football playoff format.
This damn season can’t get here quick enough.
That’s exactly what we need. 24-28 teams fighting for a national title. Just go ahead and float 68 teams pic.twitter.com/pfCfriV4co

College Football Playoff expansion has been a talking point since the original four-team playoff debuted in 2014.
The playoff just recently expanded from four to 12 teams, but it might not be done there. On Saturday, reports emerged about an idea from the Big Ten concerning expansion. And it’s a pretty wild concept.
According to reports, the Big Ten is pushing for a 24- to 28-team playoff. Yes, you’re reading that right, there are no typos. Twenty-four to 28 teams.
The 28-team playoff plan would feature seven automatic bids for the Big Ten and SEC, five automatic bids for the ACC and Big 12, two for Group of Six squads and a pair of at-large bids. The proposed idea generated plenty of feedback from college football fans, and it seems the majority has spoken.
At what point is the College Football Playoff going to simply use the 6-win bowl threshold as a participation trophy entry to an expanded playoff?
There’s MAYBE 4-5 teams each year who can realistically win a championship. Expansion isn’t always a good thing. https://t.co/ut0Pb8f0Oz

College football doesn’t need fixing. Every Saturday already feels like life or death. A 28-team playoff might give us more games, but it turns CFB into a mini-NFL instead of the chaotic, high-stakes sport built on urgency and scarcity. No. https://t.co/nt6aMaq63N
