The biggest storyline of last season for the Wisconsin football program was the team failing to win six games and qualify for a bowl game, ending a streak of 23 consecutive bowl appearances dating back to 2001. Head coach Luke Fickell received a lot of criticism for failing to keep that streak alive during his second year at the helm. Unfortunately for Badgers fans, ESPN analysts aren’t so sure that Wisconsin will make a bowl game this year either.
ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach recently released a projection for the 2025 college football season that included predictions for bowl games. The Wisconsin Badgers did not make their group of bowl-eligible teams. Fourteen of the 18 Big Ten teams made their list for bowl-eligible teams, including rivals Iowa and Minnesota. However, Wisconsin was one of the four that were not considered.
Fickell and his staff will have their work cut out for them this season, with marquee matchups against Alabama, Oregon, Ohio State, and Michigan on the schedule. If he and his Wisconsin squad are able to upset a team or two at home, there is a decent chance that they’ll be bowling in December/January.
