Kirk Herbstreit names his 3 biggest questions for Georgia football

ESPN “College GameDay” personality and college football expert Kirk Herbstreit is fired up now that college football is back. Herbstreit and the rest of the country watched as Iowa State defeated Kansas State 24-21 to kick off the 2025 season. In Week 0, GameDay took the week off, but it will return for the highly anticipated Ohio State-Texas game in Week 1, which is Lee Corso’s final GameDay show.

During a segment on ESPN, Herbstreit handed out his “Herbie Awards” ahead of the 2025 season. He highlighted his biggest questions for the country’s top contenders including the Georgia Bulldogs.

Herbstreit named quarterback Gunner Stockton, the playmakers and the pass rush as Georgia’s top questions in 2025.

“Gunner Stockton, is he the guy?” Herbstreit asked. “You see this theme like question marks, new quarterbacks, a behemoth program.”

Georgia is far from the only major college football program replacing a starting quarterback this offseason. Fellow national title contenders Alabama, Ohio State, Texas and Notre Dame all lost their starters from a season ago. Herbstreit also still has questions about who Stockton is throwing the ball to.

“Who are the playmakers?” Herbstreit continued. “Drops (were) an issue last year, miscommunication at times, the routes with Carson Beck.”

Georgia fortified its receiver room with transfer additions in Zachariah Branch (USC) and Noah Thomas (Texas A&M) that give the Dawgs a strong combination of size and explosiveness. Georgia also returns Colbie Young, Dillon Bell and London Humphreys, who all played a significant role for the Georgia offense a season ago.

The Bulldogs appear set at tight end with two potential NFL draft picks in Lawson Luckie and Oscar Delp. At running back, Georgia returns sophomore Nate Frazier and added Illinois transfer Josh McCray. Cash Jones, Roderick Robinson, Dwight…
