AUBURN — Safety Champ Anthony, center Connor Lew, running back Damari Alston and defensive end Keldric Faulk will be Auburn football’s team captains for the 2025 season, Hugh Freeze announced Wednesday.
“Four very deserving guys,” Freeze said. “I celebrate them, and it’s a great honor. Also, there’s three other guys. Those men are just a few votes behind them that are quite deserving also, so you hate it for some of those guys, but that’s the four that the team selected.”
Freeze didn’t name the three Tigers who were nearly captains this fall, but his quartet of team leaders is as experienced as they come.
Anthony, who’s returning from a season-ending leg injury against Arkansas last season, is in his third season with the program. A junior college transfer, he played in every game of the 2023 campaign before his sidelining in Week 4 of the 2024 season. Lew, a junior, took over as the Tigers starting center in 2023 and has remained at that spot ever since.
Faulk, who’s poised to be a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, had 11 tackles for loss and 7 sacks a year ago. Alston’s the lone senior, and in three years, he has tallied 681 rush yards and 5 rushing touchdowns.
