Boom! Ohio State has received a commitment from one of the best offensive tackles in the state of Ohio and the entire country. Four-star lineman, Maxwell Riley, gave his verbal pledge to the Buckeyes earlier this week.
Riley hails from Avon Lake, Ohio, and is rated as the No. 9 offensive tackle in the nation according to 247Sports composite rankings. The young man chose Ohio State over a narrowed list that included Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Michigan State, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Ironically, 247Sports had crystal ball predictions for Riley to land with Dabo Swinney and the Tigers, but new offensive line coach Tyler Bowen was able to seal the deal and keep an Ohio kid home.
In his social media post announcing his decision, the four-star prospect said he’s always wanted to be a Buckeye, saying “As a kid from Avon Lake, Ohio, it was always my goal to play for the world famous Ohio State Buckeyes.” We love to see that kind of enthusiasm as dreams come true.
Riley becomes the fifth player to commit to the 2026 recruiting class and the first offensive lineman. With only five players in the fold thus far, the class ranks No. 20 overall. But that is sure to change as more players are added.
Offensive line is always an area of great need and the Buckeyes got a good one in Maxwell Riley’s commitment. Ohio State is still in the mix for the No. 1 ranked offensive tackle and No. 1 overall player in the country in Jackson Cantwell from Nixa, Missouri. If Ryan Day and Tyler Bowen can pull that off, it would be quite a haul for the Bucks.
