Alabama softball is heading into SEC play ranked as the No. 23 team in the country per the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll that was released on Tuesday.
The Crimson Tide moved down two spots in the poll from No. 21 to No. 23. It comes after Alabama went 3-1 across its two days of play at the Spring Break Showdown, securing wins over Louisiana (3-0) and Iowa (12-3, 6 innings) on Friday, followed by a 5-1 win over Iowa on Saturday before falling to Louisiana 4-3 behind a season-high four errors.
The loss to the Ragin’ Cajuns snapped the Crimson Tide’s 13-game winning streak and moved it to 19-7 overall and 12-2 at home.
Alabama is one of 13 SEC teams ranked in the poll, alongside Oklahoma (1), Texas (2), Florida (3), LSU (4), Texas A&M (6), Tennessee (7), South Carolina (9), Georgia (13), Arkansas (15), Mississippi State (19), Ole Miss (21) and Auburn (22).
Alabama has a midweek contest at South Alabama on Tuesday night before returning to Rhoads Stadium where it will host No. 19 Mississippi State to open conference play. The Crimson Tide is set to play three games against the Bulldogs between Friday and Sunday as it gets its 2025 conference slate underway.
