Sam Williams resigns as Brandon football coach after four seasons | Report

Brandon football coach Sam Williams has resigned after four seasons and will take a high school football job in Alabama, according to reports Tuesday.

Blake Levine of WJTV first reported that Williams would end his Mississippi coaching tenure and accept a head football coaching job at UMS-Wright Prep in Mobile, Alabama.

Williams leaves Brandon with a 45-10 overall record and 11-4 in the postseason during his four seasons with the Bulldogs, including three trips to the state championship game. He was also the athletic director at Brandon.

Williams has eight years of head coaching experience in Mississippi, with the last four seasons at Brandon. He spent one year at Ridgeland (2020), and three at Pelahatchie (2017-19). Williams has an 82-24 coaching record overall, 15-8 in the playoffs with six district titles.

Brandon (12-2) is coming off a loss to Tupelo 28-16 in the MHSAA Class 7A championship game in December. Brandon has made four state final appearances in program history and has yet to win a state title.
