Badgers news: 2026 4-star QB Ryan Hopkins commits to Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Badgers got their biggest recruit to date in the 2026 class, as four-star quarterback Ryan Hopkins committed to the program on Sunday night.

Hopkins, a native of Southern California, has been atop Wisconsin’s board at quarterback for quite a while, and was on campus earlier this month for an unofficial visit.

Hopkins chose Wisconsin over Missouri, another serious contender, but held offers from Washington, Utah, Kentucky, and Arizona, among others.

Wisconsin had shown interest in several quarterbacks in the 2026 class, joining the final lists for three-star Travis Burgess and four-star Brodie McWhorter, who is scheduled to make an official visit to Madison later this month.

But, Hopkins has long been a target, offering the quarterback last October as his second offer. Now, he joins Wisconsin’s 2026 recruiting class, which has slowly built up over the past month.

Hopkins is the Badgers fifth commit in the cycle, joining cornerback Carsen Eloms, defensive lineman Carmelow Reed, wide receiver Tayshon Bardo, and offensive lineman Benjamin Novak.

More importantly, he’s the first quarterback for the Badgers, securing a major need.
