Even before spring practice officially began weeks ago, it was already widely known that the Alabama Crimson Tide would likely be among college football’s top teams entering the 2025 season.
Entering year two of the Kalen DeBoer era, Alabama is coming off a 9-4 season in which the Crimson Tide ended up barely missing the College Football Playoff. Since, multiple prominent names such as Jalen Milroe, Tyler Booker, and Jihaad Campbell have since departed, leaving the Crimson Tide with some key holes to fill entering the offseason.
However, Alabama has since filled some of those same holes through the transfer portal, while also bringing in one of the nation’s top 2025 high school recruiting classes. The Crimson Tide have also made a noteworthy addition to the coaching staff in offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, setting the stage for what could be a bounce back season this upcoming fall.
Where do those moves now have the Crimson Tide ranked among the college football Top 25 rankings following spring?
Well, according to USA TODAY Sports’ Paul Myerberg and Erick Smith, Alabama is ranked among the nation’s top teams coming out of spring, sitting at No. 9 overall. Alabama however dropped six spots from their previous ranking of No. 3 back in January, saying of the Crimson Tide:
“Kalen DeBoer is under pressure after an inaugural season with four losses and the departure of quarterback Jalen Milroe. Ty Simpson is the expected replacement under center, and the skill positions look to be well-stocked with WR Ryan Williams likely to have even more impact in his sophomore season. Alabama will have a strong defense that has depth in the front seven and key returners in the secondary.
