UCF lands first quarterback commitment to 2026 class

UCF landed its first quarterback commitment of the Scott Frost Era after Arkansas’ Kane Archer verbally committed to the Knights’ 2026 recruiting class on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Archer revealed his commitment to On3. He recently visited the campus and took in a practice during spring camp.

A 3-star prospect from Greenwood (Ark.) High, Archer was the 2024 Gatorade Player of the Year for Arkansas. He led the Bulldogs to back-to-back Class 6A state championships, earning Most Valuable Player honors each time.

Archer is ranked as the No. 614 overall player and the No. 34 overall quarterback, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

He passed for 3,880 yards with 57 touchdowns and 2 interceptions last season while adding 795 rushing yards on 81 carries with 10 touchdowns.

Archer has completed 75% of his passes at Greenwood for 6,988 yards with 99 touchdowns and 8 interceptions in 31 varsity games. He’s also rushed for 1,583 yards with 30 touchdowns.

The last high school quarterbacks to sign with UCF were Riley Trujillo and EJ Colson as part of the 2024 recruiting class. Both of those players have since transferred.

In his previous two seasons, Frost signed several quarterbacks, including McKenzie Milton and Garrett Kruczek in 2016 and DJ Mack Jr. and Noah Vedral in 2017.

Milton was a two-time American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year who led the Knights to back-to-back perfect seasons (2017-18). He also helped guide UCF to consecutive New Year’s Six Access Bowl appearances, highlighted by a 34-27 win over No. 7 Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

He was hired as an offensive analyst at Tennessee by former UCF coach Josh Heupel in 2023 and joined Frost this season as the Knights’ new quarterbacks coach.

“LETSSSS GOOOO!! We got us another sniper,” Milton shared on…
