Wisconsin football transfer portal offer Nebraska OL Grant Seagren

Wisconsin extended an offer to Nebraska transfer offensive lineman Grant Seagren on Thursday.

Seagren entered the portal last month after two years with the Cornhuskers. Since entering, he’s shared offers from Washington State, Rutgers, Kentucky, and now Wisconsin.

The Oakland, Nebraska, native originally joined the Cornhuskers as a walk-on in the class of 2023. He redshirted as a true freshman before playing 36 total snaps over seven appearances this past season. The 6-foot-6 lineman was reportedly competing for a spot on Nebraska’s two-deep during spring practice before entering the portal.

Seagren was a tight end coming out of high school, listed at 6-foot-6, 260 pounds. He’s up to 305 after moving to the offensive line, according to Nebraska Athletics. The now-former Cornhusker is in the portal with three years of eligibility remaining.

Wisconsin recently landed a commitment from Central Michigan transfer offensive lineman Davis Heinzen. The move followed the team losing projected starting left tackle Kevin Heywood to a season-ending injury. Seagren’s offer adds to the Badgers’ recruiting efforts at the position. With several starting left tackle options already on the roster, the program is still working to add further depth at the position.

Despite the transfer lineman not registering a transfer ranking on 247Sports.com, Wisconsin appears to have significant competition for his commitment. The program is the most recent addition to an offer sheet that is currently growing by the day.

For more on Seagren’s potential, here’s what Nebraska coach Matt Rhule said last month, during his team’s spring practice session:

“Forget all the walk-on stuff, that’s in your own head. He’s a big-time player in my mind.”
