OXFORD — Ole Miss football won an in-state recruiting battle to land a top running back.
Class of 2026 running back Damarius Yates committed to Ole Miss on May 4. He announced the move on social media.
Yates is a four-star recruit out of Kemper County High School in De Kalb. He is 5-foot-9 and 179 pounds. Yates chose Ole Miss over offers from Mississippi State, Florida State, Auburn, Alabama and others. He is the No. 125 player in the 247sports composite rankings and the No. 7 player in Mississippi.
Yates rushed for 1,339 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior. He also caught 30 passes and had four receiving touchdowns.
Ole Miss has seven players in its 2026 class. Yates is one of two four-star players, joining Florida linebacker Izayia Williams, who flipped from Florida to Ole Miss on May 2.
