UNC football lands Boise State linebacker Andrew Simpson

The North Carolina Tar Heels just added another big pickup for their defense this offseason.

A few days after landing a linebacker out of Florida State, the Tar Heels have now picked up the top player left at the position on Wednesday. Former Boise State linebacker Andrew Simpson committed to the Tar Heels on Wednesday, doing so with an announcement with On3.

The 6-foot, 238-pound linebacker spent four seasons at Boise State, appearing in 40 games and making 25 career starts. He has one year of eligibility left. Simpson finished last season with 45 tackles, three sacks, and an interception.

After entering the portal, Simpson drew a lot of interest from programs like Florida, Miami, Syracuse, Colorado, Texas A&M, UCLA, Purdue and USC.

Coming out of high school, Simpson was considered a three-star prospect who played at St. John Bosco out in California. He picked the Broncos over offers from Oregon, UNLV, Kansas and San Diego State.

The addition of Simpson makes 20 commitments for Belichick and the Tar Heels in the spring transfer portal period.
