Ohio State football lands graduate transfer quarterback out of portal

The Ohio State football team and head coach Ryan Day now appear to be all set at the quarterback position.

The Buckeyes got a commitment from Houston Christian graduate transfer Eli Brickhandler on Tuesday according to a social media post on his “X” account. It gives OSU four quarterbacks on the roster now, joining presumptive starter Julian Sayin, Lincoln Kienholz, and freshman Tavien St. Clair.

Though Brickhandler is a graduate transfer, he still has two years of eligibility left. The Stockton, California native started his career at North Carolina A&T in the Raleigh area, but transferred to Houston Christian after two seasons. He wasn’t particularly adept at throwing the ball, completing just 38-of-77 (49.4%) of his passes in a two-quarterback system last year. Either way, he’ll add some veteran depth to the position group, which is never a bad thing, and you can bank on Day seeing something in him if he went after him to round out the room.

Ohio State’s football roster is almost assuredly all set at this point and it’ll be just a couple of months before fall camp begins. To say that it can’t get here soon enough would be an understatement.
