Vols offer scholarship to 2028 defensive line prospect

Tennessee is recruiting toward its 2028 football signing class. The Vols offered a scholarship to defensive lineman Ayden Woodruff on Saturday.

“After a great conversation with coach (Rodney) Garner, I am blessed to receive a D1 offer from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville,” Woodruff announced.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound prospect is from Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tennessee. Notable Battle Ground Academy alumni include NFL quarterback C.J. Beathard, former Tennessee fullback Troy Fleming and Tennessee assistant athletics director of broadcasting and voice of football and men’s basketball Mike Keith.

Missouri was the first program to offer Woodruff a scholarship on Jan. 10. Additional programs to offer Woodruff a scholarship include Appalachian State, Kentucky, Liberty, Miami University and UNLV.

Tennessee does not have any commitments in its 2028 football recruiting class. The Vols have eight commitments in their 2026 football recruiting class: quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver Tyreek King, tight end Carson Sneed, offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda, wide receiver Tyran Evans, linebacker Braylon Outlaw, defensive lineman C.J.
