Former Colorado Buffaloes running back Isaiah Augustave announced on social media Wednesday that he has committed to South Carolina.
Augustave was Colorado’s leading rusher in 2024, but entered the transfer portal in April. It was a surprising move considering the Buffs need all the rushing help they can get after being one of the Big 12’s worst rushing offenses last season.
Augustave initially committed to Virginia but backed out of his decision in late May, which created speculation that he might wind up back in Boulder. His commitment to Virginia became a big talking point after Buffaloes’ head coach Deion Sanders questioned the legitimacy of the Cavaliers landing the running back.
“Virginia, you’ve got to stop,” Sanders said after practice after Augustave’s commitment. “I let you have one and didn’t say nothing about it.”
Augustave is back in the SEC after beginning his college career with the Arkansas Razorbacks. During his one season with Colorado, the running back saw action in 11 games, starting six while leading the Buffaloes in rushing. The then-sophomore tailback rushed for 384 yards on 85 carries and four touchdowns. Against Cincinnati, he recorded a season high 22 carries for 91 yards.
Sanders and Colorado are in desperate need of a No. 1 running back, with only sophomore Micah Welch, junior Dallan Hayden and transfer DeKalon Taylor as the only suitable options.
