According to wissports.net’s Travis Wilson, Iowa 2026 wide receiver commit Brody Schaffer picked up an offer from rival Wisconsin this week.
Though he plays quarterback and defensive back at Winneconne High School, Schaffer committed to the Hawkeyes on March 5 as a wide receiver. The Badgers offered Schaffer as a defensive back.
As a rival tries to enter the recruiting mix, Iowa fans don’t need to panic. Schaffer told Hawkeye Insider’s Sean Bock that his Iowa commitment is still rock solid.
“No changes in my college decision, and I can confidently say that it won’t change. I am a Hawkeye,” Schaffer told Bock and 247Sports (subscription required).
Schaffer is ranked as a three-star commit, as the nation’s 133rd wide receiver and as the No. 4 player in Wisconsin in the 2026 class according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-1, 184-pound receiver is also regarded as a three-star pledge per On3.
On3 rates Schaffer as the No. 3 player in Wisconsin.
Iowa also has a commitment from three-star wide receiver Diondre Smith out of Fletcher High School in its 2026 class. The Hawkeyes’ 2026 class currently contains 14 pledges and is ranked as the No. 38 class in the country according to On3 and as the No. 47 class nationally per 247Sports.
Schaffer recently impressed with his speed at the Packers’ 11-ON event. The Wisconsin product lists his 40-yard dash time as 4.46 seconds and his 100-meter dash time as 10.83 seconds.
Schaffer amassed more than 4,000 yards of total offense and notched 48 touchdowns as a junior. He also registered 54 tackles and picked off four passes.
