Only Alan Zemaitis Until Penn State Football

One of the most accomplished cornerbacks in Penn State history, Alan Zemaitis was a three-time All-Big Ten player and second-team All-American in 2005. Despite suffering severe injuries in a horrific car accident in the 2003 offseason, he appeared in every game from 2003 to 2005.

Zemaitis’ 2005 season was one of the best ever for a Penn State cornerback, recording 6 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, a fumble return for a touchdown against Michigan, and 51 tackles on his way to first-team All-Big Ten and second-team All-American honors. His performance was a critical component of the Nittany Lions’ resurgence to national relevance in 2005. As of this year, he is the most recent PSU cornerback to be named an All-American.

Zemaitis was drafted in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, for whom he played one season. He was the special teams and safeties coach at Susquehanna University for nearly a decade before being named Penn State’s assistant recruiting coordinator in 2021.

Only three more weeks until Penn State’s season opener against Nevada!
