2025 LSU Football Position Preview: Special Teams

As a whole the 2024 Tiger special teams was probably the strongest it’s been in the Brian Kelly era. Not exactly a high bar to clear, especially with the 2022 season being on the floor, but progress nonetheless. There were some bumps along the way, such as the debacles against Texas A&M, but by and large I would say the LSU special teams were “okay” and maybe even “good.”

There’s a chance that 2025 can be even better.

This is our last year with Damian Ramos, and while he may not end up on the Mount Rushmore of Tiger kickers, he’s done a damn good job in his time here. Do you realize Ramos is top-10 all-time in field goals made (6th, 45), attempts (5th, 58), and percentage (7th, 77.6)? He’s also fourth all-time in points scored with 308 and holds the record for most consecutive PATs with 129. The one and only job of a placekicker is to get the ball between the uprights, and Ramos has been one of the better kickers in program history. Who would’ve thought we’d be saying that after the 2022 opener against Florida State?
