It’s been a grueling spring and summer, but at long last, college football has returned to us.
The 2025 season will officially begin on Saturday with Week 0, featuring a five-game slate that is headlined by an intriguing, ranked Big 12 matchup between No. 17 Kansas State and No. 22 Iowa State. That will have to tide us over for a week before most of the country plays its first game in Week 1.

With another season comes another long list of unanswered questions facing teams and conferences. As we look ahead to what’s in store for us this fall, here is one burning question each of the Power Four conferences must answer in 2025.
ACC: What is the pecking order within the middle class?
Last year, the ACC race was pretty straightforward. Miami and SMU led the way for most of the season before Clemson snuck into (and ultimately won) the championship game thanks to the Hurricanes’ stunning loss to Syracuse.
As we enter 2025, those three teams appear to be at the top of the league once again, and it wouldn’t be surprising in the slightest to see two of those three square off in the championship game. But let’s say one or two of those teams struggle — if so, who is poised to step up from the conference’s middle class?
Last year, that group was admittedly pretty weak. If there was a standout there, it was Louisville, which upset Clemson and won nine games in Jeff Brohm’s second season. Now, after swapping Tyler Shough for another veteran transfer in Miller Moss, the Cardinals look like an intriguing dark horse.
