Top contenders Ohio State and Penn State are the preseason favorites to face off in the Big Ten Conference Championship this season.
The Buckeyes (+190), Nittany Lions (+240) and Oregon Ducks (+350) have the best chance of becoming Big Ten Champions, per odds released Tuesday by BetMGM.
But just as those three lead the list, someone has to finish last.
Purdue and Northwestern have the least chance of winning the conference this season. Both face nearly insurmountable odds — +50000 — standing between their team and a championship.
Boilermakers’ head coach Barry Odom enters his first year with Purdue, following their last-place Big Ten finish last season with a 1-11 overall record (0-9 Big Ten). The coach was ranked No. 14 among conference colleagues on CBS Sports’ 2025 Big Ten Coach Rankings.
Despite many outlets projecting Purdue to finish last again this year, Odom is maintaining a positive attitude. He’s focused on playing the Purdue Way, a concept the program developed this summer. Plus, the Boilermakers got a boost Friday as they secured their first verbal commitment in the 2028 recruiting class, wide receiver Seven Rashad.

David Braun and the Wildcats didn’t fare much better last season, finishing 16th in conference with a 4-8 (2-7 Big Ten) overall record.
Braun’s squad was expected to get a boost from SMU transfer quarterback Preston Stone, but the preseason media poll projected the Wildcats to finish 17th in the Big Ten, just ahead of Odom’s Boilermakers. Ahead of this season, the Northwestern head coach was ranked worst among conference coaches by CBS Sports.
