MSU target OL Khalief Canty pushes back commitment, crystal ball entered

There are a pair of notable updates in the recruitment for a big-time in-state prospect that Michigan State is battling it out for in the 2026 class.

Khalief Canty of Detroit has reportedly shifted his commitment announcement from today to tomorrow, according to 247Sports’ Sean Williams. The other update related to Canty is more notable, as he is now predicted to commit to Missouri over Michigan State, according to a newly logged crystal ball prediction on 247Sports.

Canty is a high-end three-star offensive lineman, with a recruiting rating of 88.98 in the 247Sports composite system. He ranks as the No. 34 interior offensive lineman nationally and is listed as the No. 8 player from Michigan in 247Sports’ rankings for the 2026 class.

Michigan State has made a late push for Canty’s commitment, turning it into a two-team battle with Missouri. He visited Missouri this past weekend and it appears that final push from the Tigers could be the difference in his recruitment.

Canty is expected to announce his college decision at 11:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday. Stay with Spartans Wire for additional coverage on this important recruiting battle.
